Description
The Opening Orchestral Concert features the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Philip Walsh, presenting a vibrant programme of orchestral masterpieces. The evening begins with Georges Bizet’s lively Carmen Suite No. 1, followed by Joaquín Rodrigo’s celebrated guitar concerto Concierto de Aranjuez, performed by Maltese guitarist Simon Schembri. The programme continues with selections from Federico Mompou’s Canciones y Danzas Nos. 7 and 5, orchestrated by Philip Walsh, and the delicate beauty of Maurice Ravel’s Pavane pour une infante défunte.
