    Coronation Mass – Palm Sunday Sung Mass

    St Margaret Parish Church, Ta’ Sannat Ta' Sannat, Gozo, Malta

    On Palm Sunday, the Silesian Chamber Choir animates the Mass in English at Sannat accompanied by the recently-restored 1903 Cavalli organ, and conducted by Polish conductor, Izabella Zielecka-Panek. The choir interprets Mozart’s Coronation Mass, a masterpiece originally composed for the Easter period, as well as other liturgical hymns.

    For its final appearance at the festival, the Silesian Chamber Choir Ad Libitum performs a selection of unaccompanied Polish numbers, conducted by Izabella Zielecka-Panek. Blending sacred hymns with more secular works, the programme showcases the artistic dexterity of the ensemble as well as the musical traits of their homeland.

    Maltese violinist Maria Conrad returns to Gaulitana, for a chamber concert with string colleagues from the Adda Simfònica Alicante; Spanish Raisa Ulumbekova on violin and Russian Yana Kucherova on viola. The evening encompasses the European sonic tapestry with works by Beethoven, Dvorak and Taneyev alongside oeuvres by leading Spanish artistic figures – Astorga, Albéniz and de Falla.

    Tones of Reflection

    Maltese cellist Daniel Xuereb joins forces with MPO Principal Cello Ákos Kertész for a Baroque-inspired concert in the heart of Victoria on Holy Saturday. The musical works are interspersed with readings penned for the occasion reflecting the solemn period of Holy Week, recited by Joanna Pullicino.
