Each year, the picturesque bay of Xlendi comes alive with traditional games in honour of the Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. This year’s celebrations will be held on Sunday, 17th August 2025, starting at around 13:00. Among the highlights is the much-loved ġostra — the thrilling greasy pole challenge — which will see daring participants attempt to run along a sloping, lard-covered pole over the sea to grab the flag at the end. The excitement for this spectacle is set to begin at approximately 15:00, drawing crowds of locals and visitors to cheer, laugh, and enjoy this unique Maltese tradition against the stunning coastal backdrop.
