Seven Last Words
March 24 @ 19:30 - 20:30
The concert will be split into four main acts starting from a reflective piece symbolising Christ’s struggle in the Getsemani Orchard through the melodies of Josef Suk’s Meditations. This is followed by Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata which as a funerary piece highlights the impending doom of the carrying of the cross. Haydn’s Seven Last Words will then bring forth the feeling of sacrifice through a dichotomy of suffering and honour as we explore Christ on the cross. Finally, Bach’s Sinfonia and Opening Chorus of Cantata 4 celebrates Christ’s resurrection promising rebirth and salvation in the Easter springtime.
