Wirt Għawdex will be hosting the first in a series of engaging talks. The talk, which will be delivered in Maltese by Prof. Michael Spagnol and Keith Attard, will focus on the dialects of Gozo. The speakers will demonstrate how Gozitan speech differs from that of Malta, highlighting the sounds and grammar of the dialects, and above all the vocabulary—showing how words change in form and meaning when crossing the channel. They will also discuss the many forms of “Gozitan” and explore how dialects across different localities are not all the same. After the talk, there will be time for audience questions and discussion.
