The University of Malta – Gozo Campus, in collaboration with OIDFA (Malta) and Koperattiva Għawdxija tal-Bizzilla u Artiġjanat is organising the annual ‘Gozo Lace Day’.

The event will be held on Sunday 14th April 2024 from 0930hrs to 1530hrs at the University Gozo Campus, Mgarr Road, Xewkija, Gozo, and will consist of a number of exhibitions and demonstrations relating to Maltese lace making. Various stands will be mounted by OIDFA, Lace Guild, Koperattiva Għawdxija tal-Bizzilla u Artiġjanat and students attending courses at the Centre for Liberal Arts and Sciences.

This event marks the 100th anniversary of the death of Dun Giuseppe Diacono, an important promoter for Maltese lace in Gozo. A talk on his lace works and designs will be delivered by Dr Consiglia Azzopardi.

Visiting lace makers are encouraged to bring their own pillow and join others in lacemaking. Entrance is free.
