Gaulitana: A Festival of Music is an annual springtime international festival and a leading cultural event in Malta. Its mission is to enrich Gozo’s cultural landscape during the quieter months and to help shape the island into a vibrant hub of creativity. Spanning approximately a month, the festival takes place across diverse venues, including opera houses, historic sites, open-air settings, and intimate pub lounges.
The programme features a wide spectrum of musical genres and formats, ranging from opera and symphonic works to chamber and sacred music, with performances that are vocal or instrumental, formal or informal. Beyond music, the festival also embraces other art forms such as live painting, literature, and interdisciplinary collaborations, supported by a comprehensive educational initiative.
Now in its 19th edition, the festival continues to present an engaging line-up of international and Maltese artists. Recognised by Musical Opinion (UK) as “a major festival of classical music,” performances are staged in various venues across Gozo. The 2026 edition places particular emphasis on choral music, complemented by the parallel GAULearn educational programme, offering a rich cultural experience designed to attract both dedicated enthusiasts and new audiences.
