We invite you to a special evening dedicated to celebrating the life, talent, and lasting legacy of Fredu Spiteri, affectionately known as “Il-Lavarist.” This commemorative event will feature a panel discussion with Professor Manwel Mifsud, Charlo Pisani, and Chev. Joe M. Attard, who will share their insights, memories, and reflections on Fredu’s contribution to Maltese folk culture and the art of makkjetti.

Adding to the evening’s atmosphere, the Tal-Fuklar Folk Group will perform a selection of Fredu Spiteri’s most beloved makkjetti — those witty, poetic folk sketches and songs that captured the spirit and humour of the Maltese people. Attendees will also have the opportunity to listen to rare CD recordings of live performances by Fredu Spiteri and the Muskettieri Għawdxin, offering a glimpse into the authentic sounds that defined an era of local folk artistry.

Throughout the evening, a photo exhibition will showcase moments from Fredu Spiteri’s life and artistic journey — from his early days as a performer to his most memorable appearances and collaborations.

The event will be both a celebration and a remembrance — an opportunity for friends, family, and admirers to come together, share stories, and honour one of Gozo’s most cherished folk artists.
