What is the Frantic Film Challenge?

A lot of fun! Can you make a film over a single weekend from script to editing? The FFC begins on Friday night and you deliver the finished film on Sunday night. Over the weekend you need to write, storyboard, shoot, edit, and produce a complete short film.

Who can enter?

Anyone! Entry is by team and a team can consist of one person or more people. It does not matter if you are a novice (for friends and film enthusiasts) or a pro but filming has to occur in Gozo or Malta. There are different categories up for grabs, anyone can win one.

We accept teams from all over Malta & Gozo, in fact globally if you happen to be visiting in the 1st week of August 2023!

When Are Winners Announced?

Winners of the competition categories will be announced on Friday 18th August 2023 at the FFC awards ceremony at the Cittadella Cultural Centre Hall 4 – Gozo. The overall BEST FILM winner will be announced and screened to the public at the opening night of the GOZO FILM FESTIVAL on the 18th August 2023.

When Is It?

This second edition of the FFC will take place in the 1st week of  August 2023. The opening launch online ceremony is set for Friday 4th August and the films must be submitted by the midnight deadline on Sunday 6th August 2023.  Registration opens for team entries on 1st July 2023 until 4th August 2023. Registration must be made in advance of the launch ceremony on the 4th August 2023.
