Eve of the Solemnity

5:00pm: Vigil Mass for the Solemnity.

6:00pm: March by the La Stella Philharmonic Band from Republic Street to Independence Square, from where they will accompany the Translation procession to St George’s Square.

6:15pm: Solemn Translation of the Relic of St George from the Church of St James to the Urban Basilica, followed by the first Pontifical celebration of the Solemnity, presided over by His Excellency Mons. Anton Teuma, Bishop of Gozo and Dean of the Lateran Collegiate Church, assisted by the Cathedral Chapter and the Urban Chapter, with the participation of the Knights of the Sacred, Military, and Constantinian Order of St George.

7:45pm: Eucharistic Blessing by Mons. Ġużeppi Farrugia, former Archpriest of the St George Basilica.

8:00pm: Musical program in St George’s Square by the King’s Own Philharmonic Band (Valletta), under the direction of Mro Dr John Galea.

9:00pm: Performance in St George’s Square of the Immortal Hymn to St George the Martyr (1931), with verses by Prof. Luigi Billion (1860–1939) and music by Mro Giuseppe Giardini Vella (1895–1974), by the La Stella Philharmonic Band under the direction of Mro Dr John Galea, featuring the choir of the La Stella Society and the children’s choir of the Piccole Stelle Society under the direction of Sylvana Attard.

10:00pm: A unique and grand march featuring the participation of the La Stella Philharmonic Band and the King’s Own Philharmonic Band, performing together as a massed band along Republic Street, concluding in Savina Square.

10:00pm: Vigil Mass for the Solemnity.

12:30am: A spectacular fireworks display synchronized with music in Savina Square.
