The day begins at 9:00am with a Solemn Pontifical Mass presided over by His Excellency Monsignor Anton Teuma, Bishop of Gozo. Joining him are delegates from the Venerable Cathedral Chapter, the Venerable Collegiate Chapter of the Nativity of Mary, and the parish clergy. The homily will be delivered during this Mass, which concludes with the singing of the Maltese Hymn for this National Day. The liturgical music, A Maria Immacolata by Maestro Riccardo Bugeja, will be performed under the direction of Maestro Di Cappella Silvio Zammit, featuring the Basilica choir Voci Angeliche led by Grace Vella Refalo, along with soloists and orchestra.

At 11:00am, another Mass will be celebrated, followed at 11:30am by a lively and popular march led by the Beland Band of Żejtun, starting from the beginning of Marija Bambina Street.

The afternoon continues with Mass at 5:00pm, leading into the Solemn Evening Prayer (Second Vespers) at 6:00pm, presided over by Archpriest Canon Daniel Sultana and attended by the Venerable Collegiate Chapter.

Simultaneously at 6:00pm, the Victory Band from Xagħra and the Leone Band from Victoria City begin their parade, culminating at Victory Square.

At 7:00pm, the crowned artistic statue of Marija Bambina makes its solemn exit from the Basilica. The Victory Band greets the statue with the Patron Hymn of Xagħra, composed by Maestro Ray Sciberras with lyrics by Monsignor Carmelo Refalo. The band then performs Ħdejn in-Nieqa ta’ Marija, composed by Maestro Vincenzo Ciappara with lyrics by Canon Cav. Ġiljan Refalo Rapa, under the direction of Maestro Marvin Grech LCM, featuring soloists and choir.

The procession begins at 7:30pm, led by Canon Daniel Sultana, Archpriest of Xagħra, with the participation of the Venerable Collegiate Chapter and parish clergy. During the procession, the Leone Band of Victoria City performs a musical program at the bandstand in Victory Square.

At 9:30pm, a grand salute to Marija Bambina takes place in Victory Square, highlighted by the performance of Ave Maria. This is followed by a fireworks display at 10:00pm, lighting up the night sky in celebration.

The evening concludes at 10:15pm with the solemn entrance of the crowned statue of Marija Bambina back into the Basilica. The Antiphon Nativitas Tua is sung, and the Blessing of the Blessed Sacrament is given, bringing the day’s celebrations to a reverent close.
