Behind The Scenes – Caring for Museum Collections

Looking for a fun and educational family outing during the children’s Easter recess? Families are invited to the Gozo Nature Museum, within the historic Ċittadella, for a unique family workshop exploring the fascinating world of museum professionals and what happens beyond the exhibition halls.
Titled ‘Behind the Scenes: Caring for Museum Collections’, this engaging, hands-on session is designed for children aged 7 and over and their accompanying guardians.
Young ones and adults alike will follow the complete journey of a museum object, from its initial selection and careful documentation to conservation treatment and professional photography. Together, families will explore how experts assess, record, and care for artefacts, both those on display and those being preserved in storage.
This interactive workshop, delivered in Maltese and English, provides a rare glimpse into the essential work that protects our cultural heritage for future generations.
